Seeking help to attend 2018 International Artist Residency in Krakow, Poland.

What.
I am so thrilled to be invited to the International Artist Residency in Krakow, Poland by Basha Maryanska, Artist, Curator and the Director of the Red Barn Gallery in Beacon, NY. The Residency will take place from September 3 – 17th, 2018 in the medieval city of Krakow – A European gem placed by UNESCO on the World Heritage List.

For the past two years, I have been working continually on the Tempo Rubato collection that explores emotional connections of living in two countries and examines the concept of nationality and duality. Paper is the medium that I have chosen to work with for this project. It is continuously present in our life in one form or another. Usually unappreciated as a permanent material, it is however astonishingly durable, especially the mulberry paper with its long fibers and ability to bond. I picked Fryderyk Chopin’s music as a canvas for this project for the playful parallels and tensions, the connections of dark and light — opposites equally important to existence, life, and creative balance.

In 2017 eleven pieces of the Tempo Rubato Collection in the form of installations and wearable art were first introduced in a solo exhibition at the International Fiber Art Fair in Hangaram Art Museum in Seoul, Korea.

Why.
One of main goals for this Residency is to continue my research on the subject, explore the artistic possibilities, and get fresh inspiration, but also to participate in personal and community awareness. It is a significant professional development opportunity with a place of uninterrupted time to develop a new body of work, gain social support, make contact with local artists and exhibit work made while in the Residency. Going to Krakow would also allow me to be a part of a community of artists from all over the world with different backgrounds and experiences and share creative ideas.

All financial contributions will be appreciated greatly and will be used for the cost of the Residency, airfare, research, and art materials. I hope you will consider funding my campaign and if not by helping financially, please send good energy my way.

Thank you.
Thank you for your interest and contribution, I am very grateful for any support! In gratitude, I would love to share with you some of my work.
